GREEN BY THE POUND - BUILDING SCHEDULE

Constructing a home over the course of three days (and two nights) requires tight planning and a well managed site. Previous to the actual three day build, the following aspects were carried out:

  1. Installation of the foundation and backfill.
  2. Rough-in of the mechanical and electrical systems.
  3. Installation of the underground septic, rain water and domestic water tanks.
  4. Installation of the basement and main floor framing and subfloor.
  5. Installation of the main floor deck and decking.

The following outline explains the various tasks required each day.

 

Day One:

  • Installation of main floor walls (sips)
  • Installation of roof trusses and sips panels
  • Installation of doors and windows
  • Installation of roofing shingles
  • Installation of building paper
  • Installation of interior drywall board (no taping or mudding required)
  • Installation of prefinished pine at ceilings and basement and main floor
  • Rough in of electrical and plumbing

 

Day Two:

  • Installation of prefinished pine at all interior walls and partitions
  • Hanging of interior doors
  • Installation of door and window trims
  • Installation of kitchen cabinets

 

Day Three:

  • Installation of floor coverings
  • Installation of cedar soffits
  • Installation of cedar shingles at exterior walls
  • Final plumbing and electrical installations
  • Misc builders hardware completion
  • Installation of deck railings
  • General clean-up
