WELCOME TO THE NARROW LOT SERIES

The redevelopment of existing neighborhoods is an important aspect in sustainable home construction.  The high cost of developing and servicing new suburban subdivisions is making some inner city lots very attractive.  Usually these established areas feature beautiful canopies of mature street trees, close proximity to shopping and parks, and often a historical personal connection for families.

This new series of narrow lot designs is planned to address a 25' wide property.  Most urban communities were based on a grid of these long and narrow lots.  These parcels usually feature rear lane access for the garage and parking, so the street elevation is not dominated by the garage, as so often is the case in new subdivisions.

The exteriors of these plans have been carefully detailed to offer the style and character of an older neighborhood, with the use of covered verandas, Craftsman-styled brackets and columns, and window configurations common to that period.  Inside, the plans feature bright open layouts, offering spacious foyers at the front door, and efficient mudrooms at the back.  Many have access for a rear deck.

Windows on side walls of these homes have been designed to suit most local zoning requirements.  The construction of these side walls have been detailed to offer improved fire resistance as well.
