New Brunswick is one of the original four provinces that formed Canada in 1867. It is one of the eastern maritime provinces and features a landscape of forests and scenic shores. These forests include Sugar Maple trees which are tapped to make maple syrup. Each winter this syrup was boiled down in wood sheds to produce the thick product we use on our pancakes. These buildings typically had a unique dormer on the roof which would open to allow the steam to escape. This unique structure was our inspiration for the New Brunswick plan which features:
- Covered front porch
- Open plan with a small kitchen, dining and living room
- Novel sleeping space on upper level that hovers over the living space below supported by timber beams with side railings and raised windows overhead
- Built in cabinets at the top of the stair for storage
- 1 bedroom
- 1 bathroom
